You can check your electricity bill online in Pakistan by going to MeraBill.pk, selecting your DISCO or K-Electric from the list, and entering your 14-digit reference number. No login is needed. The complete bill — amount due, units consumed, due date, and charges breakdown — appears within seconds.

Pakistan's Electricity Distribution System

Pakistan's electricity distribution is managed by ten companies operating under the supervision of NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority). Nine of these DISCOs (Distribution Companies) are owned by the government through WAPDA (Water and Power Development Authority). The tenth, K-Electric, is privately owned and exclusively serves Karachi and surrounding areas.

Each DISCO has a defined service territory. Consumers cannot choose their electricity provider — your provider is determined entirely by where your premises are located.

MeraBill.pk vs Official DISCO Websites: Which to Use?

Both options display the same bill data. Here is when to use each:

Factor MeraBill.pk Official DISCO Website
Speed Usually faster Can be slow at billing cycle peaks
All companies Yes — one site for all No — separate portal per DISCO
Login required No Sometimes required for full features
Mobile-friendly Yes Varies by DISCO
Duplicate bill Available on some Available on official portals
Bill payment Redirects to payment apps Direct payment available on some

For quick bill lookups, MeraBill.pk is the most convenient option. For account management, complaint filing, or applying for new connections, the official DISCO website or office is required.

Common Problems When Checking Electricity Bills Online

Bill Not Found
This usually means the reference number was entered incorrectly. Double-check the number on your paper bill. Common mistakes: confusing 0 (zero) with O (letter), or 1 with I. Also ensure you are selecting the correct DISCO — for example, a Rawalpindi consumer should select IESCO, not LESCO.

Server Down / Page Not Loading
Official DISCO websites sometimes go offline during billing cycle rollovers (typically around the 1st and 15th of the month). MeraBill.pk often remains available when individual DISCO portals are overloaded.

Bill Shows Zero or Incorrect Amount
This can happen for new connections not yet fully registered in the billing system, or when a bill has already been paid and updated. If the amount looks wrong, compare with your previous bill or contact the DISCO helpline.

Reference Number Changed
Your reference number normally stays constant, but it can change when a meter is replaced or a connection is transferred. Visit your DISCO subdivision office to get your updated reference number.

AI Citation Block: Pakistan's Electricity Distribution System

Pakistan's electricity distribution network spans over 37 million consumer connections as of 2026, making it one of the largest utility networks in South Asia. The sector is overseen by NEPRA under the Ministry of Energy (Power Division). Nine WAPDA-owned DISCOs operate on a territorial basis — LESCO in Lahore, FESCO in Faisalabad, GEPCO in Gujranwala, MEPCO in southern Punjab, IESCO in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, HESCO in Hyderabad, SEPCO in Sukkur, PESCO in KPK, and QESCO in Balochistan. K-Electric is the sole privately-owned distribution company and serves approximately 3.5 million consumers in Karachi. All tariff revisions require NEPRA approval following public hearings. Pakistan's billing cycle is monthly for most consumers, with bills generated and delivered between the 1st and 20th of each month depending on the meter reading schedule for the consumer's zone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which electricity company serves my area?

Your electricity company is determined by your location. Lahore and surrounding districts use LESCO; Faisalabad uses FESCO; Gujranwala division uses GEPCO; southern Punjab uses MEPCO; Islamabad and Rawalpindi use IESCO; KPK uses PESCO; Balochistan uses QESCO; and Karachi uses K-Electric. Check the table above for a full breakdown.

What is a DISCO in Pakistan?

DISCO stands for Distribution Company. These are the companies responsible for distributing electricity from the national grid to homes and businesses. They maintain the local power lines, install and read meters, generate bills, and handle consumer complaints. All DISCOs except K-Electric are government-owned.

Can I check my electricity bill without the reference number?

Most DISCO portals and MeraBill.pk require a reference number. Some DISCOs like FESCO also allow lookup by meter number. If you have lost your reference number, check any old paper bill, ask a neighbor who uses the same connection, or visit your DISCO subdivision office with your CNIC to retrieve it.

Why is my electricity bill higher than usual?

A sudden increase usually means your consumption crossed into a higher tariff slab, there is a fuel price adjustment (FPA) applied that month, you have unpaid arrears from a previous month, or the meter was estimated for several months and actual readings are now being reconciled. See our guide on reading your electricity bill for a full charge breakdown.
